Veg Chow Mein is one of the most popular street foods in India and a lot of other countries. Chow means stir-fried and Mein means noodles. It is made with noodles, fresh sauteed veggies and simple sauces.

Mostly during the weekend we cook special food and whenever I ask my husband what’s your preference he always chooses Chinese and he agrees to do the chopping and I happily agree. Once all the chopping is done he calls me and then I enter the kitchen as a head chef and prepare the dish and say look how fast I make dinner, then he responds with a cute smile. Preparing Chinese food requires lots of chopping but the cooking time is very less.

My whole family loves Chinese recipes like Gobi Manchurian, Mushroom Fried Rice, Egg Fried Rice, Garlic Fried Rice and I love how quickly it comes together, plus it’s one of those recipes we all agree on.

Lemon Pickle or Nimbu Ka Achaar recipe is a quick and easy way of making the traditional spicy and tangy Indian condiment with very few ingredients easily available in our kitchen.

It is a popular pickle recipe made with lemons cut into pieces and mixed with red chili powder, salt, turmeric, mustard seeds, fennel seeds, carom seeds, cumin seeds, combined together and store for a period of time. Lemon Pickle is one spicy tangy no-oil pickle that is usually served with dal-rice or paratha or puri.

Pickle is something that is by default always available at home. Lemon, Chili and Mango Pickle is my all time favorite pickle. Last week I got fresh limes from Indian store. So thought of making some fresh batch of it. Its a great way to add some zest in your Indian food as Indian meal is not complete without a selection of side dishes and condiments.

In the summers, I make a large batch of Mango pickle, Gajar Mooli Ka Achar and use it for the remaining year. This year I also made Stuffed Green Chili Pickle and Pickled onion.

Dahi Puri Recipe is sweet, sour, tangy, spicy and crispy chaat with so many flavors and taste bursting in the mouth. These puris are stuffed with spicy potato filling and then topped with sweet and chilled curd along with chutneys and sev. Dahi Puri is also known as Dahi Batata Puri Chaat, Dahi Puri chaat recipe, Dahi Wale Gol Gappe, Dahi Patasha.

In this recipe I have used ready to fry pani puris, which I air-fried with just 1/4 teaspoon oil and it takes only 2 min to puff them like a balloon. You may also make this recipe using store-bought puris or can also prepare them at home.

When I was living in Vadodara, I used to have them often on the street next to my house and it was something I have thoroughly enjoyed during warm days after the office hours. The chilled sweet curd in the crispy dahi puris really gave me instant relief from the scorching heat of the city. I always order 1 plate of pani-puri and after that I never forget to order 1/2 plate dahi puri. No matter how much I resist, I can never control myself if there is a plate of chaat in front of me, especially when it is Dahi Puri.

Restaurant Style Missi Roti is one of the most popular North Indian flatbreads which combines the goodness of whole wheat flour and gram flour (chickpea flour). The addition of roasted crushed cumin and coriander seeds along with the finely chopped onions, dry fenugreek leaves adds nice flavor and texture to the roti.

Missi Roti or Besan Ki Roti is mostly made during winters at my home. This one was one of my favorite flatbread since childhood and I like to enjoy it with some mustard oil and Buknu. My mom used to make them on cast iron tawa, but at dhaba or restaurants they are usually made in tandoor or clay oven.

Much like other Indian bread, these roti are healthy, easy to make and go very well with the Indian curries. It has a perfect mix of flavors mixed with gram flour and cooked to perfection.

Caramel Makhana or Gur Makhana or Caramel Foxnut is sweet with just the right balance of crunch from the foxnut and sweetness from the jaggery. This super easy recipe for Caramel Makhana takes 10 minutes start to finish!

With a thin, crispy, even coating of glazed caramel on every piece with some sesame seeds on top, this caramel makhana stays crispy for weeks. But that's not the case in my house as it disappears very fast. Sometimes they get finished even before going to the jar.

Makhana Raita or Phool Makhana Raita is an easy healthy raita recipe made with fox nut (puffed lotus seed), yogurt/curd, and mild spices. It is a light & delicious curd recipe combined with the health benefits of fox nuts. This is also the perfect recipe if you are fasting during Navratri.

I was unaware of this recipe until last year. My son is a big fan of roasted foxnuts and his other favorite thing is yogurt. He never starts his meal unless there is a bowl of yogurt on his plate. So one day I thought of combining these two things together and to my surprise, he gulped all of them. I did not know raita can be made with makhana too.

Then I searched, is there a real thing called makhana raita and yes we Indian love experimenting with things and are so innovative that we can present so many recipes with one ingredient.

This makhana raita tastes somewhat similar to boondi raita. Foxnut/makhana is neutral in taste and when its roasted in ghee it gives a really nice nutty flavor. Flavored with roasted cumin powder, chat masala, black salt, and a little bit of sugar gives this raita a perfect and delicious taste which can also be served as fasting food.
