DHUBRI: Assam Police fired bullets at the tyre of a fleeing vehicle of cattle traffickers in Assam’s Dhubri district, successfully blowing the vehicle’s wheel on late Saturday night. Acting on a tip-off, Golakganj police fired rounds at a suspected cattle smugglers’ bolero pickup bearing the registration number (WB- 63B- 3646), which tried to to flee violating the signal given by the police to stop. Following that, police chased the vehicle down the road for 20 kilometres from Golakganj towards Dhubri via Tiyamari in Gauripur. Golakganj police then immediately informed Gauripur police about the incident.
GUWAHATI: As Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Kumar Borah has chaired a meeting with the district and block presidents of six constituencies which will go to the by-election on September 30, apart from Majuli, the party has decided to keep four constituencies for itself. MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who was in Uttar Pradesh for the shooting of her upcoming film, met Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath. During the meet, the CM appointed Ranaut as the brand ambassador of the State government’s flagship programme, ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP). The scheme seeks to promote indigenous products like rice, black salt, zara zardozi that are native to each district of Uttar Pradesh.
KOHIMA: With COVID-19 situation gradually improving, Nagaland is all set to organize the 22nd edition of the Hornbill Festival at The Heritage Village, Kisama. Nagaland will also host the International Travel Mart (ITM) for the first time from November 28 to 30. Announcing the same, tourism and art & culture adviser H Khehovi Yeputhomi informed that Rs 75 crore was generated collectively by entrepreneurs and other participants during the Hornbill Festival in 2019, which he claimed helped boost the State’s economy.
ITANAGAR: The Arunachal government on Friday announced to withdraw suspension on issuing ILP and Protected Area Permit to travellers as the COVID-19 situation in the northeastern state is “under control”. Chief Minister Pema Khandu, during the cabinet meeting approved the suspension on issuance of Inner Line Permit (ILP) and PAP to reopen the state to tourists who have received both doses of COVID vaccines, Home Minister Bamang Felix told reporters.
NEW DELHI: India has made 10-day quarantine for United Kingdom passengers mandatory irrespective of their vaccination status after several warnings of “reciprocal action” against the UK’s rigid vaccine travel norms. All passengers flying from the United Kingdom to India must now have a negative RT-PCR test and must stay in quarantine for ten days after arriving in India. GUWAHATI: The Assam government on Friday issued special advisory for organising Durga Puja this year. According to the newly issued advisory, there shall be no mela or stalls in and around the Puja Pandals and no temporary pandals shall be allow on and by side of any street. It has been further directed that a maximum of 40 persons inclusive of organisers, devotees and priests shall be allowed to gather at any time in the Puja pandals subject to there being sufficient space to maintain Social distancing.
