Another fun custom explosion box in the books. Surprised my dad for his birthday with this film/television box - decked with Hollywood style red shimmers, brassy golds, velvety blacks, and a shockingly realistic popcorn bucket & admission ticket!

Explosion boxes are wonderful standalone gifts or gift-toppers. I have standardized my explosion box design for graduations; however, if you browse through my shop’s instagram pictures, you will see a variety of birthday, wedding, baby shower, and other miscellaneous box designs that you can draw inspiration from while ordering.

Interested in a box for a special person in your life? Shop my Etsy or DM me today!

🐚Exciting and totally new design for a lovely bride-to-be to give to her fiancé’s mother. This unique display card features a client-chosen poem as the centerpiece with handcrafted origami seashells, sand dollars, and starfish around the perimeter. I dusted the frame and sea creatures with a paper polish to give the paper an iridescent gleam. Not going to lie - intricate folds on thicker card-stock is totally harder than it looks!

The perfect gift for the mother-of-the-groom. Welcome to the family, @kristenpadilla !

My Grammy had a big birthday this week 90 years! She has always quoted our cruise in 2002 as one of the highlights of her life - another cruise, therefore, being the perfect gift for this big birthday event.

What better card design to go with a big vacation surprise than a cruise-themed explosion box decked to to make you feel like you jumped right out of “The Love Boat”? This special box comes with a travel tag note sleeve (w/nautical flags), a pop up compass/map, a life preserver note, and some tropical SVG cut palms.

The centerpiece, inspired by my “Vintage Suitcase Card,” is a little suitcase box adorned with miniature stickers of the places we will travel to on this trip. Lift the box up to reveal the surprise!

I love creating custom explosion boxes with unique themes for different events. DM me or explore my Etsy today for your very own box 👌🏼

I’m back! I apologize for the less-frequent posting on the MandaCards site. While business has slowed, it has been nice to take advantage of the warm summer weather. I am excited to share with you all a brand-new custom creation for a colleague wishing a friend congratulations on opening a new business!

This card is a “shaker card” - a new technique to add to my shop’s paper crafting repertoire. With the aid of a clear acetate window cutout and 3D foam tape, you can see confetti move inside the champagne glass and bottle once the card is “shaken” (see 4th slide). While it looks like a simple little design - it took me over 2 hours to get “just right” for my customer 😬 Safe to say, more practice is needed for perfection!

I loved how this card came out and how versatile the design is. It could be used to celebrate nearly anything - engagements, weddings, graduations, promotions... you name it!

What do you think? Should this be a new MandaCards design?

Since releasing the Graduation Explosion Box about a month ago, purchases for this little keepsake exploded. Never before have I received so many orders from new customers, spanning many states across the country. Here’s a cool map illustrating my shop’s client spread!

All of the tassels on my graduation card designs are handmade by me, using embroidery floss.

In 8 easy steps, you too can make little graduation tassels - page through the next 2 4-frame collages to see how I do it!

1. My place setting. For this tassel I will use red & white floss.

2. Cut an equal length of red and white floss. I cut about 2 feet of each.

3 & 4. Take the floss and wrap it around spread out fingers on your hand. Depending on how much you spread your fingers will determine the length of the tassel.

5. Once you have a continuous tassel loop, cut a separate small strand of floss and tie it to the loop. This will ensure that the floss that you just looped does not come apart and will be the top of your tassel. Also, you will cut the loop open, at the end opposite of the tie to release the tassel fringe.

6. This is the trickiest part of tassel making. Cut another separate piece of floss, about 1 foot long. Lay your tassel on a table and take this new strand and arrange it in a horseshoe shape. Take one “arm” of the horseshoe, and wrap it around the top of the tassel continuously until you feel that it is thick enough. This will be the “neck” of the tassel.

7 & 8. Lastly, you will need to find a way to adhere the neck of the tassel (that you just created) to the tassel body so it doesn’t fall off. Take the strand arm that you DID NOT use to create the tassel neck, and string it through the loop, created when you created the horseshoe strand formation (step 6). Pull through, and the neck is knotted and adhered to the tassel.

Trim tassel to desired length and trim off any excess floss!
