NANS Suspends June 12 Protest, Distances Self From 039;Buhari-Must-Go039; Campaign According to The PUNCH, the National Association of Nigerian Students has suspended its planned June 12 nationwide protest. NANS President, Sunday Asefon, made this known in a statement on Friday morning. It was titled, ‘NANS Suspends June 12 Protest Over Concerns About Safety Of Protesters And Fear Of Possible Hijack By Politicians – Comrade Sunday Asefon’. According to the NANS president, the planned protest was aimed at decrying the insecurity in the country, especially the serial abductions of students. However, Asefon said some politicians with “different agenda” have perfected plans to hijack the protest to “ventilate their political opinions and sentiments”. He also said the students’ body was not associated with the secessionist campaign or the ‘Buhari-must-go’ campaign slated to hold on Saturday by some politicians and activists. He said, “Having considered the current security realities and the danger to the lives of our members in case of possible hijack of the planned protest, I in consultation with all the structures of NANS, therefore, announce the suspension of our proposed protest for June 12. “The suspension of the protest is necessary to avoid a clash of interest and clash with security agencies that are on red alert to protect the nation’s infrastructure from security breaches on the proposed date as a result of many other protests slated for the date. “We intend to protest for better security and improved welfare for our students, we must therefore not put the life of any of our students at risk to ventilate our grievances.” Asefon further noted that the protest was not cancelled but postponed, adding that a new date would be announced for the demonstration.

PEOPLE ARE NOW ATTACKED IN BROAD DAYLIGHT IN LAGOS. THIS HAPPENED ON IJORA BRIDGE AT HALF PAST NOON 2 DAYS AGO. WHO WILL HELP US? CITIZENS ARE NOT CALLING OUT THEIR GOVERNORS, LET039;S START FROM THERE

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, NPM, fdc, despite the heavy rain in Lagos, engaged the personnel in a tete-a-tete to brainstorm on their general well-being and betterment of the Nigeria Police Force. He further promised to embark of empowerment programmes for the wives of officers and men in the Nigeria Police Force, such that their wives will not be solely dependent on them. In another development, the Command wishes to refute the fake news being peddled in the social media today Wednesday 9th June, 2021, that the IGP Usman Alkali Baba was booed in Lagos on arrival. The publication is false, baseless and mischievous as the Inspector-General of Police was never booed, rather he was warmly received and celebrated by Lagosians.
"Two South West Governors came to me to say cattle rearers are destroying farms in their states, I asked them what happened to the grassroot security panels from Traditional Rulers to Local Governments who meet regularly to identify the root of their problems and identify crooks within their environment and apprehend the criminals. Who destroyed this system? Go back and fix it, give your people sense of belongings. I don039;t like it when people campaign to become Governors and people trusted them with their votes and after winning, they can039;t perform, they039;re trying to push responsibilities to others. ........we have three tiers of Government, Federal, State and Local. We have killed the Local Government totally. We will send N300m as allocation to a Local Government, one Governor will ask the LG Chairman to sign that he collected N300m but he will give him N100m and the Chairman will keep quiet.....is that how we will continue???" MUHAMMADU BUHARI
Governors cannot win elections in their respective States and expect us to do their jobs for them, Buhari Says Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has hit out at some State Governors demanding they sit up and handle the worsening insecurity in their respective states. The Nigerian leader stated this on Thursday when he granted ARISE News an exclusive interview. He said that the governors who are having security issues in their states should not just sit back after winning elections and expect people to do their jobs for them. Advised that governors revert to the traditional ways of tackling insecurity by involving traditional institutions that are very effective and community leaders at the local level. According to the President, the governors should be able to tackle these security situations because they have “very effective traditional institutions” and security systems at the state and local levels.
