We have some great virtual talks and tours organised during the following week for Photo London Digital ll, among which there are:

Tomorrow, at 6.30 pm BST we have a conversation between artists Liz Nielsen and writer and teacher W.M.Hunt, where they will continue the dialogue they began two years ago about colour and light snd space and life.

On Tuesday, at 6.30 pm BST, taking a cue from the themes present in Lorenzo Vitturi’s most recent works – identity, photography’s nature, and the mixture of cultures and languages - the artist and critic Walter Guadagini will talk about the nature of photography today, how it confines with different art forms, and the creative process behind it, hybridised as never before.

On Thursday, at 6.30 pm BST, in a panel talk we will consider the relationship between image and surface with a focus on elevated printing systems. It will reflect on different display technologies and the way they are shaping what we see, how we experience and what we create.

On Friday at 1 pm BST you will be able to join an exclusive curator-led virtual tour of Frida Kahlo: POSE at the Rose Art Museum and then at 6.30 pm BST Philippe Garner will reflect on his 50 year career as an auction specialist in conversation with Alistair O’Neill.

Visit the online fair and explore the digital exhibitors including Black Box Publishing. This Cape Town-based space is a ‘think tank’ focused on the medium of photography.

Having traversed many parts of Africa, the work of Cape Town based photographer and filmmaker Garth Meyer (pictured) explores the notion of boundaries and borderlands in relation to social and political ecology.

At Photo London Digital II, they present three artists. In his series of images collectively titled Sowetan, Johannesburg based photographer Tshepiso Seleke documents the seemingly ordinary, the day-to-day of life in Soweto, South Africa’s largest township.

British born, South African photographer Alastair Whitton’s photo narrative project A Foreign Land considers the mechanisms of memory and the mapping of geographies in a Post-Apartheid democratic South Africa and specifically Cape Town.

Hit the link in bio to visit Photo London Digital II, explore Black Box Publishing’s booth and buy works directly on Artsy.

Sunil Gupta and Chris Boot, both active within the radical photography scene of the 1980s, consider photography at the time, as a tool of resistance to the prevailing representations of race and sexuality, the narrative of AIDS, and the politics of Margaret Thatcher.

Illustrated with photographs by Gupta, and other images, Gupta and Boot will discuss endeavours then to establish Black photographic practice at the centre of the photography conversation; ‘Ecstatic Antibodies’ (curated by Gupta and Tessa Boffin) and photographic activism around AIDS and issues of sexuality; the role of the GLC and others in shaping the cultural landscape; and the relevance of this work today.

Join us today at 6.30 pm BST on this discussion and register on photolondon.org/talks-programme or via the link in bio

To celebrate the 55th edition of the Photo London magazine, we are
delighted to feature multidisciplinary artist Noé Sendas, who is represented
by Carlos Carvalho Arte Contemporânea.

In a mix of photography with performance and installation, Sendas presents us with some beautiful, black and white, unsettling photographs, drawn with a hint of magic. The body as a whole is expanded and manipulated, blending the boundaries in between photography and collage.

To see his great work, go to photolondon.org/academy/magazine or via the link in bio

Seeing beyond the tip of your nose is a dialogue between Nancy Burson, the conceptual artist/photographer, with W.M. Hunt, writer, curator, and teacher.

Both are based in NYC and are longtime friends and colleagues.
Best known for her pioneering work in morphing technologies, Burson began her career producing computer-generated “composite” portraits in the early 1980s. As a dealer, Hunt presented Burson’s 20” x 24” Polaroid portraits of real people with prosthetic devices resulting from facial cancers in 1990. Burson’s work remains focused on the previously unseen and she has continued that work over the past two decades.

At 6.30 pm BST today we’ll explore her recent studies of Quantum Physics and look at how what she sees has become the documentation of her truth in photography.

To see the talk, go to photolondon.org/talks-programme or via the link in bio
