Today, we are super excited to celebrate our second birthday as a business! And what better way to celebrate than to reminisce about the events that kicked it all off!?

It all started with an editorial in March 2018. Our founder Lacey Webb was writing about the importance of data and understanding business processes for @Waste Management Review, whilst still in her role as a Senior Consultant: Risk, Regulation & Strategy, at Mandalay Technologies. It was this editorial that ignited that first spark in Lacey, and made her realise there was a very real need for a consultancy focusing on effective operations, and helping clients navigate the complexities of the resource recovery sector.

So, on 12 September 2019, she started Resource Hub.

2 years in, we couldn’t be happier with how far Resource Hub has come. Thanks to all the clients we’ve had the pleasure of supporting, to Mandalay Technologies for becoming our first major partner, and to the talented team and collaborators we’ve worked with over the past 24 months. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Now, on to planning the next 12 months!

One worldwide pandemic, 7 employees, 4 regular contract collaborators, many happy customers and 3 award nominations later, Resource Hub is turning 2!!!

In our first two years not only have we been profitable, we also just found out we have been nominated for not 1, but 2 awards! As a young business, it means so much to us to receive recognition for our work from the likes of Women in Waste, the She-EO venture, and last year, also Lord Mayor's Business Awards.

Thank you to all our wonderful customers and collaborators - here's to more business and less waste! 🥂

We’re still pinching ourselves about the fact that we’ve been selected as a SheEO Australian Venture Semi-Finalist!

Check out the impressive company we are in - this year's Semi-Finalists, who are redesigning the world so it works better for everyone here:

We loved the recent article by Waste Management Review with David McAlister, the Resource Recovery Manager at Ipswich City Council. They discussed the importance of being able to collect relevant and comprehensive data, and to interpret exactly what is going on as crucial ingredients for planning and improving operations.

We have worked with many clients to help them uncover data errors ahead of audits and reporting, so we’ve seen first hand the value this can add to an operation - both in terms of money saved, and processes improved.

How are you ensuring that your data is being collected and interpreted in the right way?

(Ps. Hope you didn’t miss the announcement of our waste levy mini-audit, where we’ll do an hours’ audit of your data free of charge, to see if you can improve your processes and save $ in any areas.)ki

It was a pleasure recently catching up with Sam Stewart and Ben Chadwick from John Laing, to discuss potential opportunities that might exist in QLD to fund Waste to Energy plants.

What is your take on the appetite for Waste to Energy in QLD?

Signage isn’t everything - but for customers to know where to drop waste (or even where your site is!) it needs to be simple, visible and well sized. And don’t underestimate the benefits of swapping out signs each year or scaling back how many you have!

Signage at a transfer station or landfill will become less effective over time as it becomes part of the “landscape” that customers disregard. Have you reassessed your signs lately?

On a recent job, we worked with our client to streamline an important internal business process, and we were able to take a big step towards achieving consistency in their operations across all states.

In the words of our client, 'It was a worthwhile discussion and brainstorming session, and I am happy with the outcome that was achieved.'

If streamlining your operations is something you'd like a hand with, give us a call!

Resource Hub would like to congratulate our very own Lacey Webb for being recognised as a finalist in the 2021 Women in Industry Awards - Business Development Success of the Year!

The Women in Industry Awards celebrate the exceptional women who are driving change, breaking down barriers and creating new possibilities in the traditionally male-dominated industrials sector.

With over 15 years in the WARR sector, Lacey founded Resource Hub 18 months ago, an all female waste management consultancy, fueled by a passion for solving clients' waste challenges. Resource Hub has grown from 1 team member to 6 in this time, and we continue to grow in our ability to support our customers.

Congratulations to all the wonderful women finalists and best of luck!
