"YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT" how many of us have heard/said this? Its true.. and if you are what you eat, then WHY would the health of your hair have any other results besides based on what you are or aren’t eating?

It's pretty simple. Eat good things and your body will react in a positive way. Eat bad things and your body will react in a negative way. hy would you buy the right shampoos and treat your hair (topically) the "right way", just counter all of that by feeding your body junk? It doesn’t work like that.

I'm not talking about what we eat on the cheat days or a treat here and there, I'm talking about consistent bad diet habits. Some people may not even realize what they’re eating on a daily basis has a negative impact on their hair health. The purpose of this post isn’t to shame anyone for what they eat or don’t eat, and it’s not a gospel for you to completely alter your diet to. It’s just a reference for you to make changes based on how you deem necessary to achieve the results you’re looking for. The more you know, the more you can tweak to meet your needs.

So…. In case you didn’t already know, hair is made of proteins, and without enough of them in your regular diet, your hair can have serious problems. Iron is also crucially important!! Lack of iron can cause major hair loss because Iron maintains the nutrient supply in your scalp. Your hair and scalp also needs vitamins; A,C & E. If you aren’t taking a multivitamin or getting your daily intake, you are going to see the negative effects in your skin, hair and nails. To prevent dryness, look for essential fatty acids like Omega-3 and Omega-6. Scalp: Zinc, Selenium are main and major requirements. Deficiencies in either can result in hair loss or decreased hair growth.

Swipe to see our Healthy Hair Grocery List for foods compliant with these nutrient needs.

Part 2..... Raise your hand if you've had more than 3 types of shampoo in your shower at once.... 🙋🏼🙋🏽🙋🏻

There's no shame in the game ladies & gents. Just as the image says "Not all shampoos are created equal" and I'm here to tell you ᗯᕼY they are different & ᕼOᗯ to use them. If you've got it figured out then WOOHOO 🥳, if not: this is FOR YOU! Making a simple switch in the TYᑭE of shampoos you use could be a complete hair 𝔾𝔸𝕄𝔼ℂℍ𝔸ℕ𝔾𝔼ℝ!!

{{𝕤𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕝𝕒𝕥𝕖𝕣 𝕤𝕠 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕔𝕒𝕟 𝕣𝕖𝕗𝕖𝕣𝕖𝕟𝕔𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕨𝕙𝕖𝕟 𝕤𝕙𝕠𝕡𝕡𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕟𝕖𝕩𝕥 𝕡𝕠𝕠}} 😉

Sourced from the Blog at: https://us.davines.com/blogs/news/different-types-of-shampoo

ℝ𝔼𝔾𝕌𝕃𝔸ℝ Shampoo: can be used on those who don’t have specific hair needs. Dry, normal, or oily hair are good receptors for this type of product.

𝔼𝕍𝔼ℝ𝕐𝔻𝔸𝕐 Shampoo: If you wash your hair EVERYDAY, you need a mild cleanser. Something that won't strip your natural oils or over-deposit moisture. Make sure when you check that label your product has a small number of conditioning agents in it.

ℂ𝕃𝔸ℝ𝕀𝔽𝕐𝕀ℕ𝔾 Shampoo: Necessary for those who use a lot of styling products. (Curly girls for ex.) Meant to clear out build up on the hair and the scalp. Once a week is sufficient! Using more than this can cause your hair to be dry and frizzy as it will strip your natural oils. Be sure to follow with a good conditioner.

𝔸ℕ𝕋𝕀-𝔹ℝ𝔼𝔸𝕂𝔸𝔾𝔼 Shampoo: Formulated for 𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐆 or 𝐃𝐑𝐘 hair. Great to use for cutting down on frizz & getting healthier, stronger hair.

ℙ𝕌ℝ𝕀𝔽𝕐𝕀ℕ𝔾 Shampoo: More for the scalp than the hair. Usually targeting more dandruff-prone hair. Look for the following ingredients: Dandelion, Willow Bark Extract, Tea Tree Oil.

𝔻ℝ𝕐 Shampoo: Be careful not to overdue it! You can create a lot of buildup for yourself, (especially depending on the ingredients of your chosen dry-poo) and can imbalance your scalp’s pH which will create problems of its own.

This one's for EVERYONE who has hair! {{𝕤𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕤 𝕚𝕟𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟𝕒𝕝 𝕡𝕠𝕤𝕥 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕝𝕒𝕥𝕖𝕣 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕤𝕙𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕙 𝕪𝕒 𝕗𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕟𝕕𝕤}} Recently I posted a poll on our stories [[𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕚𝕗 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕡𝕒𝕣𝕥𝕚𝕔𝕚𝕡𝕒𝕥𝕖𝕕]] which asked what your hair type was, what you struggled with, and which description best fit your hair. Which fueled the desire to write this post and the others to come. Why? Because knowledge is power & we care boucha in and out of the salon 😉. So I will be sharing knowledge to help with haircare; from products to diet to maintenance and everything in-between. This would be a -🄱🄻🄾🄶- if I tried to type all of that out in one setting 😬😅 so we will just start with -ɪɴɢʀᴇᴅɪᴇɴᴛꜱ- today. Most importantly, the ones you want to stay away from 🚫.

Don't live under the lie of "oh it's just shampoo, I'll live" No fam... it takes 26 seconds for chemicals you apply to your skin to absorb into your blood stream. Let that sink in.

You might think to yourself when you see this list... how can there be 𝕊𝕆 𝕄𝔸ℕ𝕐 things that are "bad" for you in so many products? Short yet sad explanation for that; The US FDA only bans 11 chemicals from being added in cosmetics & beauty products. If we went by European Union regulations a lot of companies would either have to change their formulas or go out of business because the EU bans 𝟙,𝟛𝟚𝟠 chemicals 🧪🤯.

As I went about my regular daily duties as a receptionist, for whatever reason, I was SUPER in-tune with positivity throughout the salon this week.

Want to know what I noticed?

Stylists complimenting clients on what they wore that day, “you look SO cute!” Co-workers complimenting each others work, “her lashes look so good!” Even a compliment on someone’s British accent, “your accent is so sweet!” Plus many more!

Do you know how every person receiving a compliment reacted? >>нαρρу & тнαηкƒυℓ & with a receptive smile!! The person giving the compliment? They smiled & were happy too!! That’s how kindness works!

Have you ever received a random compliment from someone & it just hit you with so much joy & happiness all at once? I had a lady tell me in the middle of eating dinner in a restaurant as she was walking to her table she thought my hair was beautiful. I wanted to MELT my heart was so happy & overwhelmed with kindness. My point being this; Not a single person, hates a compliment. Not a single person, hates kindness. Not a single person, disregards the politeness from a friend or stranger.

Let’s be more of that. Let’s look for the good things, recognize them & then SAY IT OUT LOUD!! It doesn’t count if you only think it & you don’t act on it! What a better place the world would be! You may not be able to get everyone in this world on board with doing things the kind way, but if you make the commitment to do it yourself, I guarantee you’ll see a change in YOUR world! What a difference your world can make on another person, and another person, then another person & it just. Keeps. Going.
🙌🏼🌎🤍

I challenge you today, find something good in/about another person & SAY IT! A stranger in line at the gas station, someone you pass by in the grocery store, a friend you meet for lunch etc.

Happy Friday Friends!! ✨

Why do you NEED a white wax brow stick?

Well, several reasons actually. Let me elaborate ☺️

1. PERFECT for highlighting✨ that brow bone honey! This will help you have more definition! Seriously, the difference between applying & not is incredible!

2. Clean up that water line! If you’re an eyeliner wearing kind of gal, this wax pencil can brighten up your look so it’s not too dark or heavy! Just add a little to your water line & VOILA! You get your desired liner look without darkening your eyes

3. Used in conjunction with our brow powder, this wax stick can be used as a great “base” for applying brow powder. The powder is more likely to stick & stay, while creating an even coverage!

4. Grey brows? No problem! This stick is great for that too! It actually matches a grey brow wonderfully & can be used to fill in & used to create individual brow hairs

Tap the pic to shop this handy brow accessory!

Knowing the CORRECT way to apply your skincare products is JUUUUUUST as important as choosing the correct skincare products for yourself.

Whether you are new to skincare or were taught how to properly apply, we've got you! Follow the sequence listed below for BEST results with your skincare products. {{𝕙𝕚𝕥 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕤𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕓𝕦𝕥𝕥𝕠𝕟 𝕥𝕠 𝕣𝕖𝕗𝕖𝕣𝕖𝕟𝕔𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕝𝕒𝕥𝕖𝕣}} ✨

🧼 𝗖𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗡𝗦𝗘
Even better, do a double cleanse!! This will ensure whatever you didn't get off your skin the first time, will come off with the second cleanse. A clean canvas is best to start with! Avoid using too hot or cold water, lukewarm is just perfect!

💧𝗧𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗥
The purpose of toning is to balance your skins pH levels. So think of it this way: start your skin balanced so your products are able to work properly!

👁️ 𝗘𝗬𝗘 𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗠
The area around your eyes is so incredibly sensitive, thin, and delicate. Treating this area before beginning on the rest of your face will ensure it is absorbed quickly and correctly. Use your ring finger & gently dab your product on. Apply your cream a little below your targeted areas as your eyes will naturally pull the cream upwards. By applying lower you will keep it away from your eyes and it will hit all the right spots.

💦 𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗨𝗠𝗦 + 𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗙𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦
This will vary depending on the time of day. AM will be different than PM. Whatever you do use, it's recommended that AM products include a vitamin C serum. And PM include a glycolic acid or serum infused with plant peptides.

🧴𝗠𝗢𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗜𝗭𝗘
All skin types NEED a good moisturizer. After stripping your face of build up and toxins, now the process is to add back the natural oils that you took away. Why you add a toner, eye cream, serum, and now moisturizer to balance your oil glands so they won't over produce.

☀️🌙 𝗦𝗣𝗙 𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗪
Simple explanation: Protect in the am and renew in the pm. This goes in accordance with your environments for all 24 hours. Prevent premature aging, sun damage, and prevent unwanted peeling & redness.
