Drink Champs created history when the podcast turned REVOLT show ran by N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN was able to book the artist formerly known as Kanye West. Ye didn’t fail to deliver when it comes to his consistent stance on everything from politics to Drake. Although he attempted to be diplomatic and maintain a balance, there were some clear grievances he shared. Here’s five things we learned from his ‘Drink Champs’ interview:

5. The Only Ways Ye Will Go On ‘Verzuz’ Is…

4. Ye Has Continuously Faced White Supremacy In The Industry

3. He Prefers Black Future Month Over Black History Month

2. Ye Explains The Smoke With Drake (and others) In His Own Unique Way

1. Ye Still Calls Kim K. His Wife

Saying bye is hard to do, especially when you have to say bye to something good. Fortunately for Insecure fans everywhere HBO and Issa Rae softened the blow of Insecure entering its final season with a wholesome and reassuring trailer that epitomizes growth and closure.

The two-minute official trailer shows the ladies going to Issa’s real-life alma mater Stanford University to watch her participate in the alumni panel, “Finding Your Path: Advice from Alumni Entrepreneurs.” Ironically, Issa is still struggling to find her own path and, at times, even feels like she doesn’t have control of her own life.

There’s also glimpses of Issa’s former beau, Lawrence (Jay Ellis), enjoying life without her and a possible venture into the restaurant business with “Stacks Cafe.” Molly (Yvonne Orji), who is being pressured by family to find a partner, debuts a new au-naturel hairstyle. Kelli (Natasha Rothwell) appears to be the wise giver of life advice, and Tiffany (Amanda Seales) is happily entrenched in family life.
Keke Palmer and Lela Rochon also make a cameo during a quick flash of a scene that shows Lawrence’s love interest, Condola (Christina Elmore), holding a baby at a gathering…

Netflix released a first look of the Coodie Simmons and Chike Ozah directed documentary JEEN-YUHS, and it’s giving hip hop nostalgia. The clip shows Mos Def going on a lyrical rampage before Kanye West passionately takes the reins in a high-energy rap session that took place in 2002, all while Creed actor Wood Harris watches.

JEEN-YUHS takes viewers on a ruminative journey as the documentary delves into the life of Kanye West, from his smaller beginnings as a producer vying to rap to his ventures in the treacherously competitive world of business.

News of the trailblazing hip hop trio The Fugees disbanding to follow individual pursuits was one of the saddest days in hip hop history. No one said it better than Jay-Z’s “Heart of the City (Ain’t No Love)” where he raps,
“Ain’t no love, in the heart of the city | Ain’t no love, in the heart of town | And then the Fugees gon’ break up, now everyday I wake up | Somebody got something to say.”

The last time Wyclef Jean, Pras Michel, and Ms. Lauryn Hill made an appearance together was almost two decades ago. So, when the group announced that they would be going on a reunion tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their groundbreaking 1996 album The Score, fans couldn’t believe their ears.

An impromptu concert at Pier 17 in New York City on Wednesday (Sept. 22) solidified the news with all three members showing up for the occasion. The Fugees performed a select number of tracks from The Score that included hit songs “Ready or Not,” “Killing Me Softly With His Song,” and “Fu-Gee-La.”

The Fugees will tour 12 cities around the world with the next date scheduled in Chicago on Tuesday (Nov. 2), followed by dates in Oakland, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami, Newark, Washington D.C., Paris, London, and locations in Nigeria and Ghana. Tickets are on sale for the Fugees world tour at LiveNation.com. Prices start at $89.59. The event organizer is requiring proof of negative Covid test or vax.

In the transparent Breakfast Club interview, Jason Lee admits to intentionally disarming Civil by accepting an apology Civil made during a run-in in Los Angeles. Fast-forward to Sept. 2021, a wave of accusations of Civil scamming and backstabbing people started to surface on social media. In a scathing Clubhouse recording, Joyner Lucas, Kita Trotter, and Jason Lee exposed Civil with stories of her betrayal. Now, Jason Lee is seeking legal counsel to figure out exactly what to do next.

“When we pursue Karen the way we are getting ready to, we got to go through a process called discovery Where the $20,000 come from? How’d you file that on your taxes?” said Jason Lee. “We had a meeting yesterday and my team doesn’t want to talk about everything we plan to do legally, but like, for sure, it’s not a moment in social media history. Definitely going to pursue it.”

It is well known that the media has attempted to use Nicki Minaj’s character as a punching bag for judgement. But, now she’s caught up in a sensationalized story that is completely inaccurate. It all started when the “Moment for Life” rapper went on Twitter to share with her fans that she caught COVID-19 right before her VMA appearance, before letting everyone know that she would not be appearing at the Met Gala. until she completes her research on the vaccination.

Minaj tweeted, “I was prepping for vmas then i shot a video & guess who got COVID? Do u know what it is not to be able to kiss or hold your tiny baby for over a week? A baby who is only used to his mama? “get vaccinated” Drake had just told me he got covid w|THE VACCINE tho.”

She then followed up the tweet with her reason for not being present at the Met Gala.
“They want you to get vaccinated for the Met,” Minaj continued. “If I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one.”

Despite telling others to do their research and to “pray on it,” for some reason an outlet misread her tweets or read them in isolation and published a story that created a life of its own. The most embarrassing finger wag to the new mother came from a fellow Black woman in the entertainment industry.
“People like Nicki Minaj I have to say this, you have a platform that’s 22 million followers on Twitter,” said Joy Ann Reid on MSNBC’s ReidOut. “It’s a blessing that you got that, for people to listen to you. For you to use your platform to put people in the position of dying from a disease that they don’t have to die from — oh my god, as a fan, as a hip hop fan, somebody’s that your fan — I’m so sad.”

There’s only a handful of women that have the highly prestigious designation of EGOT, abbreviated for Emmy, Golden Globe, Oscar, and Tony, status in the world of awards. Those women include Whoopi Goldberg, Audrey Hepburn, Rita Moreno, and Helen Hayes. In total, there’s only 16 EGOT achievers, including John Legend, Scott Rudin, and Mel Brooks.

Jennifer Hudson, who is possibly up for Oscar consideration for her role in the Aretha Franklin biopic Respect, is one step closer to earning the distinction. On Thursday (Sept. 9), Hudson won a daytime Emmy “Interactive Media” award for her role as executive producer on the virtual reality animation Baba Yaga, a short interactive film.

The Emmy adds to her multiple Grammy awards, such as the “Best R&B Album” for her 2009 self-titled album Jennifer Hudson and “Best Musical Theater Album” in 2017 for Broadway’s The Color Purple.

In 2007, Hudson was awarded the “Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role” Oscar for the Broadway musical film adaptation Dreamgirls. Once Hudson obtains the American Theatre Wing’s Tony Award, then she will have the coveted EGOT title.

The 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards nominations are in and there is one category of nominees that is causing a bit of a conversation. “Best Hip-Hop Platform” recognizes media staples in the hip hop community that have made impact. This year’s nominees include Complex, Genius, Hip Hop DX, Hot New Hiphop, The Breakfast Club, The Shade Room, Worldstar Hip Hop, and XXL.

While the list of nominees are highly recognizable brands in the industry, there were a few impactful entities left off that certainly have paid their dues for quite some time.
The Breakfast Club, who received a well-deserved nomination, mentioned that DJ Akademiks should’ve been nominated. The sole proprietor and consistent social media poster agrees. He went onto Twitter to repost the morning show’s statements.
“It’s only so long they can keep us out,” the caption stated on DJ Akademik’s tweet. “@BET y’all will know my platform name soon. I’ll just keep out working everyone 100.”

DJ Akademiks has established a hip hop platform that has informed and entertained since the heyday of this social media era. He has broke the most controversial of hip hop news, while introducing fans to up-and-coming rappers, such as XXXTentacion, Trippie Redd, 6ixNine, and more.
He wasn’t the only one who was left out to dry. Revolt TV was nowhere to be found on the list of nominees. White-owned hip hop platforms No Jumper and Vlad TV also missed the mark this year. Shawn Cotton, the owner of Say Cheese TV is another self-made hip hop titan that created his own platform serving the hip hop community.

Imagine having your chance meeting with someone you have aspirations of working with, only to fumble the ball or be rejected in a matter of minutes. This was the case for two men who now have viral videos of them asking for a job.

....Now, the second case involves social media sensation turned boxer Logan Paul. Recently, Charlamagne Tha God brought the story national attention when he included it in his Donkey of the Day segment.
A 22-year-old Ohio man quit his $100,000 a year job and traveled all the way to an event that Paul was attending to shoot his shot. Initially, Paul didn’t take the man seriously and thought he was pulling a social media stunt since he snuck into the event.

Paul gave him a speech about not trying to get hand outs. He then advised the man to relocate to Los Angeles and become a networking guru making connections with everyone. The man didn’t take the rejection well. Red-faced and teary-eyed, he went on Tik Tok to express his disappointment.
“Before I approached him, he was bragging about making $3 million — I make a $100,000 a year,” he said. “I want to act, I want to do these things. I’m having a breakdown right now….I don’t know what to do. I did come up here by myself. I do have family, but were not the closest, and I really don’t have close friends.”

Drake really isn’t taking himself seriously with the rollout of his 21-song project Certified Lover Boy. Champagne Papi said it himself on Apple Music, the album is “a combination of toxic masculinity and acceptance of truth which is inevitably heartbreaking.”

In the visual for “Way 2 Sexy,” he continues his frolicsomeness in an assembly of comedic sequences that show the multi-talent OVO founder exploring the 1990s.

Directed by Dave Meyers, Drake can be seen channeling his inner Romeo as the subject of a romance novela, Rambo, Michael Jackson, Richard Simmons, and the sexy icon of a smooth “Wet” cologne commercial.

“Way 2 Sexy” was incredibly choreographed by HiHat and edited by Nathan Rodgers of Cabin Edit. The song was produced by duo TM88 and TooDope, and samples the hit 1990s song by Right Said Fred’s called “I’m Too Sexy.”

Fresh off of her performance at Rolling Loud Miami, Texas-bred music artist Kaash Paige is breaking records and making history. The “Euphoria” singer became the first female artist to invest in an eSports organization in history when she dropped a bag on Team 33, a Hollywood-based, invitation only eSports team that grew significantly in popularity in the last year.

Launched in November 2020 by Tyler Gallagher, Team 33 has made significant strides, recruiting world-class players and establishing its reputable brand as the 6th top Fortnite team in North America, per Fandom. To date, the organization has earned over $1 million via tournaments.

“I have always been fascinated with video games and the eSports industry in general,” Paige added. “The first gaming systems I ever owned was an Atari and PlayStation 2. My favorite games growing up were Pac Man, Tetris, Street Basketball Vol 2, Midnight Club, Def Jam Fight For NYC and Guitar Hero. Today I also play popular titles like Fortnite, Madden 21 and Call of Duty.”
