Our Banbury Rebels reach Cornwall and have a message for the G7 leaders. What is the top thing you want our leaders to act on? #extinctionrebellion 💚
The police arrived within minutes. "I don039;t want you to get hurt." The police have thanked our rebel for coming out today, say they understand the message and what is trying to be achieved, and have asked her to please be safe and stay out of the road. 👮👮
Banbury Quakers and XR joined the national call for MPs to support the CEE Bill, and helped to create a CEE bill twitter-storm On Friday 26th March many organisations took part in a nation-wide CEE bill banner drop. The 26th marked the date that the bill was due to be debated in parliament. Unfortunately due to the pandemic, Friday sittings have been suspended. Jill Oakes, who helped to put up the Banbury banner at Nothing but Footprints @refill_not_landfill in Castle Quay, said; ‘The banner drop and twitter storm were organised to elevate the bill to the top of MPs’ agenda. We are in the middle of a climate crisis and need our government to act now!’ Maria Huff, clerk of the Banbury Quakers, said; "Although the weather prevented us putting up this banner outside on Friday morning, Banbury Quakers stand with the call to Back the Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill, and have written to Victoria Prentis asking that she support this very important discussion in Parliament." #CEEBill
If you are self employed, please consider joining our Earth Tax Strike. It039;s a tax strike for anyone who pays their tax directly to HMRC - artists, therapists, plumbers, gardeners, actors, consultants, shopkeepers - the occupation doesn039;t matter, what matters is that you are not on PAYE, so you are able to withhold a percentage of your tax as an act of non-violent civil disobedience. Here039;s a blog I wrote explaining it for Writers Rebel. If you039;d like to know more, come to one of the meetings (link at the end of the blog). https://writersrebel.com/tax-strike/
☎☎ CALLING ALL NORTH OXFORDSHIRE RESIDENTS ☎☎ If you have Victoria Prentis as your MP please check out this petition. ⬇⬇⬇ And if you feel like signing it, and sharing it with anyone else in North Ox - go for it! 💪 ⬇⬇⬇ If the #CEEBill is passed through parliament, it will require the government to achieve more realistic targets if we are to stay below the [safe and recommended] 1.5° warming. It will also help to preserve natural habitats 🦉🦇🦋 and the beautiful English countryside. 🌳🌿🌦 ⬇⬇⬇ Victoria is currently not in mind to support the CEE Bill, but not all Tory MPs are on the same page, so hopefully a bit of pressure from her constituents will help her see the light. 💡😮 ⬇⬇⬇ https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/victoria-prentis-mp-please-support-and-sign-the-climate-and-ecological-emergency-bill
